The filling takes just 15 minutes to cook in my air fryer, and it’s way less oily than pan-frying. This fajita chicken can be served in tortillas, salads, or rice bowls!

Don’t Crowd the Air Fryer!
I recommend cooking fajita chicken in batches if you don’t have a large enough air fryer. You don’t want the pieces of chicken to overlap one another. Otherwise, they will cook unevenly and steam in the basket. We want the chicken and veggies to get a bit crisp, so they need space to breathe!

How to Make Chicken for Fajitas in the Air Fryer Step by Step
Prep: Gather the list of ingredients for this fajita recipe. Preheat your Air Fryer to 375°F, and spray the basket with nonstick spray. Or use a liner if you have them. Cut the chicken breast into thin strips, then slice the onion and bell peppers.

Mix the Fajita Filling: In a large bowl, mix together 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken breast strips, 1½ tablespoons of fajita seasoning, ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper, ½ teaspoon of kosher salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice, 1 medium sliced red onion, and 3 medium bell peppers sliced into strips. Be sure to fully coat the chicken, peppers and onion with the spice and oil mixture. If you like, let the fajita mixture marinate for 15-30 minutes.

Cook the Meat: Then add the chicken mixture in a single layer to the air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 mins, mixing halfway through the cook time.

Serve: Serve fajita chicken on warm tortillas, topped with sour cream, pico de Gallo, or a squeeze of lime juice. I also love using this mix to make chicken fajita bowls with some rice and beans!

How to Store, Freeze, and Reheat
Store leftover air-fried fajita chicken mix in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat chicken and peppers in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed through. Then serve on freshly-warmed tortillas with your preferred toppings.
