- Combine all of the marinade ingredients in a sealable plastic bag.

For best taste, use this marinade right away. Prepare it immediately prior to adding the chicken breasts.
When grilling these chicken breasts, cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, depending on how thick they are. Thinner breasts will take less time while thicker breasts will take a couple extra minutes. Chicken is cooked through when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- For truly vibrant tandoori chicken, add 1-2 extra teaspoons of turmeric to the marinade.
- Marinate this chicken for 1-8 hours. Any longer and the chicken can get slimy.
- No grill? No problem! Cook marinated tandoori chicken on the stovetop. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and cook the chicken breasts until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, about 15 minutes. Flip halfway through to ensure the chicken is evenly cooked.
What should I serve with tandoori grilled chicken?
There are so many delicious sides that pair well with this grilled chicken! Try serving tandoori chicken with roasted vegetables, a side salad, or a starch like dal, rice, couscous, or quinoa.
What kind of yogurt should I use?
Use regular or Greek plain yogurt in this marinade.
This marinated tandoori chicken is one of my favorite ways to enjoy Indian food at home. Fire up the grill and get cooking!
