I love chicken fajitas, but sometimes I don’t want to bother with washing out my skillet at the end of the night. Enter this air fryer chicken fajitas recipe. It’s got all the components I love, but I can toss it all in the air fryer (with a parchment liner) for easy cleanup.
What’s in This Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas Recipe?
- Chicken: I like boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but thighs or tenders will also work.
- Fajita Seasoning: Adds classic Mexican flavor. If you don’t have a packet of fajita seasoning to use, you can make homemade fajita seasoning by combining equal parts of chili powder with garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and onion powder.
- Lime Juice: Helps the seasoning stick to the chicken and adds a touch of acidity.
- Red Onion: Adds a sweet and earthy flavor to the dish.
- Bell Peppers: Add a sweet and vegetal flavor to the dish. Use any color!

How to Store and Reheat
Store leftover air fryer chicken fajitas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed through.
Notes and Tips
- I recommend cooking the chicken in batches if you don’t have a large air fryer. You don’t want the pieces of chicken to overlap one another!
- Slice your vegetables thin, but not too thin to the point that they’ll burn easily when cooking.
- I like to add some red pepper flakes to make my fajitas spicier.
- I recommend using air fryer parchment liners for easier cleanup.

Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into strips
- 1½ tablespoons fajita seasoning
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice from ½ lime
- 1 medium red onion sliced
- 3 medium bell peppers any color, deseeded and sliced
For Serving (optional):
- tortillas
- chopped fresh cilantro

- salsa
- sour cream
- lime wedges
Instructions
- Preheat Air fryer to 375 °F and spray the basket with cooking spray.
