These sweet chili wings are my go-to appetizer when I need something effortlessly tasty! I whip up the most delicious sweet chili style sauce to coat some bone-in chicken wings, and it’s truly the perfect flavor. They take just 5 minutes of prep and about half an hour to bake in the oven. You only need 4 ingredients and a handful of seasonings to make this easy chicken wing recipe!
Sweet Chili Sauce Wings Recipe
My oven-baked sweet chili wings are so much simpler to make than deep-fried wings. They’re a bit healthier, too, without sacrificing flavor. I love how crisp the skin gets, and the sauce gets beautifully glazed in the process.
To make the wing sauce, I start with a base of store-bought sweet chili sauce, then add honey BBQ sauce, soy sauce, a couple of spices, and plenty of red pepper flakes. These chicken wings are sweet, spicy, and finger-licking good!

How to Store and Reheat
I have found that these sweet chili wings taste best as soon as they are ready. If you happen to have leftovers, they will keep well for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, or 3 months in the freezer. Let them thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating in a 350°F oven for around 15 minutes, or until fully warmed through.
Notes and Tips
- It’s so important to gently pat the wings dry with paper towels before seasoning and baking! This is what helps them crisp up so nicely.
- Be cautious with your red pepper flakes! When I’m making these chili wings for my kids, I usually omit the red pepper flakes entirely. However, when I’m making these on game days and I know I have some spice lovers coming to the house, I double up the amount for extra heat.

Was pale not like the picture, should it be turned during the cooking process

I’m sorry this recipe didn’t turn out as expected, Candace! Browning depends a lot on your oven temperature. To get more color, you can broil the wings for 5 minutes at the end!

Was not worth it, not real sweet chili chicken

I’m sorry this recipe wasn’t to your taste, Willie!

I have used this sauce recipe many times now. This is what I do. I double the sauce on the stove and when my wings are done, with whatever cooking method I chose that day, I pour the sauce over the wings in a huge bowl and toss. This way they stay saucy. I have even cooked wings and kept them in a slow cooker with this sauce. I came across this recipe because a restaurant stopped making these amazing wings and I was on a search for something similar. This recipe is almost exact. Thank you!
