How to Store and Reheat
Let BBQ chicken pizza cool to room temperature, then store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also wrap slices in aluminum foil. Reheat in the microwave, oven, or air fryer until warmed through.

Notes and Tips
- Use chicken that has been fully cooked. Grab a rotisserie chicken from the store, or make Instant Pot shredded chicken for a quick and easy option.
- I like a BBQ sauce that’s a little bit sweet for this pizza.
- If you happen to have a particularly thin BBQ sauce, you can thicken it with a slurry. Combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water, then stir this mixture into the sauce over low heat until it thickens.
- I love the way the subtle smoked flavor of Gouda cheese pairs with the barbecue sauce, but mozzarella will also work well.
- Don’t add too much sauce, or your pizza will turn out soggy.
- Take extra care when transferring the pizza to the hot pan. Be sure to wear oven mitts!

BBQ Chicken Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough or pre-made pizza crust
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- ¼ cup sliced red onion
- 2 cups shredded smoked gouda cheese mozzarella cheese, or a combo of both
- ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro optional, for garnish

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Once heated, place the pizza stone or pan in the oven.
- Place the pizza crust on a large piece of parchment paper. If the crust is still in dough form, roll out the dough.1 pound pizza dough
- Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce on the pizza crust. In a bowl, combine the remaining barbecue sauce and chicken. Then, add on the toppings in this order: 1½ cups of cheese, red onion, BBQ chicken, remaining ½ cup cheese.2 cups shredded cooked chicken, ½ cup BBQ sauce, ¼ cup sliced red onion, 2 cups shredded smoked gouda cheese
- Remove the pizza pan or stone from the oven. Slide the pizza onto the pan and bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, the crust is crispy on the outside and cooked through (if using pizza dough). Finish with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
