My chicken tater tot casserole is the ultimate fun Friday dinner idea! Count me in on any dinner that involves tater tots, but I must say, this chicken casserole really takes the cake. My kids beg me to make this delicious casserole that’s filled with tender chunks of chicken, lots of veggies, and a creamy cheese sauce. I think the crispy golden tater tots on top could get them to eat just about anything underneath, but it certainly helps that this casserole is delicious, too!

Chicken Tater Tot Casserole Recipe
This chicken tater tot casserole is super kid-friendly, but my husband and I love it too! My sons are notoriously picky eaters, but they gobble this one right up with zero complaints about the veggies inside. I love how easy this recipe is with just 7 simple ingredients. Frozen veggies, frozen tater tots, and cream of chicken soup are total rockstars that add so much flavor and cut down on prep time.

How to Store and Reheat
I almost never have any leftovers of this chicken tater tot casserole! If you end up with some, no worries – it reheats like a dream. Just keep it stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, I highly recommend using your air fryer or oven until just warmed through! That way, your tots stay crispy.
How to Freeze
If you plan to freeze this chicken casserole, I suggest baking it in a baking dish instead of a cast iron skillet. You can then place foil over the baking dish once it’s fully cooled to room temp and put it in the freezer.

Notes and Tips
- Cutting the chicken before cooking it helps reduce your cooking time.
- In a bit of a hurry? You can definitely use pre-cooked or leftover chicken. If you decide to go this route, you can skip the second step and just add the chicken in your mixture in step 3.
- Using butter and oil olive helps the chicken not stick to the skillet.
- You can use your favorite cheese on top of the tater tots.

A great tater tots recipe that I’ll definitely be making again. I did increase the heat to 425 towards the end of baking to make sure the tater tots got crispy but otherwise followed the recipe, which was perfect.
