We go through so much taco seasoning at my house, it’s just no longer economical for me to buy the little packets. With my homemade recipe, I can make a huge batch of chicken taco seasoning that lasts a long time in my spice cabinet, or I can make just enough for a single recipe. I love the flavor of this Mexican seasoning blend even more than the store-bought containers, and I can easily control how salty it is to meet everyone’s dietary needs.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Blend for Chicken
My standard chicken seasoning got me on the DIY spice blend train, so I decided to make my own taco seasoning for all my favorite chicken tacos and Mexican dishes. I mix salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder, plus cayenne pepper for some heat. It comes together in 5 minutes, and it’s perfectly flavorful!
I created this Mexican spice blend specifically for chicken, but it tastes great with beef too. I love how much fresher and bolder my homemade chicken taco seasoning tastes compared to store-bought stuff. And I use this basically every week, so I always keep a batch in my spice cabinet.
