My air fryer garlic parmesan wings are just as crispy and delicious as traditional wings, but they’re a little bit healthier and only take 30 minutes to make! Seasoned to perfection and loaded with Parmesan cheese, these chicken wings crisp up perfectly in the air fryer thanks to a simple flour coating. Rich in flavor from lemon butter, garlic, and Italian seasoning, this is one of my absolute favorite wing recipes for game day or dinnertime!

Air-fried Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

I love making garlic Parmesan wings in my air fryer because they turn out even crispier than my oven-baked garlic Parmesan wings, and they cook in half the time. Each chicken wing is coated in lemon butter and a savory blend of Italian seasoning and garlic powder, then finished with Parmesan for that irresistible flavor.

Whether I’m serving these air-fried garlic parm wings for game day or a weeknight dinner, the combination of crispy exterior and juicy interior makes them addictive. You can also adjust the seasoning (add more garlic, a sprinkle of cayenne, or extra Parmesan) to make these wings truly your own.

Moisture is the enemy of crispiness here. Then lightly spray or brush the wings with a thin layer of butter or oil instead of coating heavily. Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bone-in, skin-on chicken wing portions (*)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (⅜ stick, melted)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • minced fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer to 390℉ and coat with cooking spray.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the unsalted butter and lemon juice.

  • Add chicken wings to the bowl, and coat each chicken wing with the butter mixture. Set aside.

  • In another medium-sized bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt.
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon kosher salt

  • Coat each chicken wing with the flour mixture.

  • Place the chicken wings in a single layer in the Air Fryer basket, making sure to not overcrowd.

  • Cook for 12 minutes; then flip each chicken wing and cook for 7 more minutes.

  • Remove from the Air Fryer and top with parmesan cheese and parsley to serve.

Notes

*Use chicken wing portions or whole wings. If using whole wings, you may need to increase the total cook time.
Tips:
  • For a cheesier flavor, mix grated Parmesan directly into the flour mixture.
  • Leave space between the wings while cooking–it’s best if no sides are touching. Crowding traps steam, which prevents crisping. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Don’t forget to flip the wings in the air fryer after the first 12 minutes! This step ensures that the wings are cooked evenly and have the same texture on all sides.
  • Let wings sit 2-3 minutes after cooking; the residual heat helps redistribute juices and makes the wings even juicier.
Storage: Store Air Fryer garlic parm wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days.

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Wings in the Air Fryer Step by Step

Prep: Gather the list of ingredients for this Air Fryer wing recipe. Preheat your Air Fryer to 390℉ and coat the basket with cooking spray. Melt the butter, juice the lemon, grate the cheese, and mince the parsley (if using).

Coat the Wings: In a medium-sized bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Then add 1 pound of chicken wings to the bowl, fully coating each with the butter mixture; and set aside.

Season the Wings: In another bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of onion powder, ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and ½ teaspoon of kosher salt. Coat each chicken wing with the flour mixture, and shake off any excess. This will help create a super crispy coating without deep frying.

Place the Wings: Evenly place the flour-coated chicken wings in a single layer in the Air Fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. You may need to cook them in batches. Plenty of space around the wings is super important for air flow and to create an extra crispy coating.

Cook the Wings: Air-fry garlic parmesan wings for 12 minutes. Then flip each chicken wing and cook the other side for 7 more minutes, or until 165°F internally. Remove from the Air Fryer and top the wings with ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese and parsley. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!

How to Store and Reheat

Store leftover air fryer garlic Parmesan wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat in a 350°F Air Fryer for 5-6 minutes, until warmed through.
