Place the Doritos into a Ziplock bag, seal, and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin.
3½ cups Cool Ranch Doritos
In a small bowl, add the mayo, sour cream, minced garlic, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Stir to combine.
1 cup mayonnaise, ½ cup sour cream, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, ⅓ cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
Set up a dredging station for the chicken. Place a bowl with crushed Doritos next to the bowl with the mayo mixture.
Dab a paper towel on the chicken breast to make sure it is dry so everything will stick well. Season both sides of the chicken with sea salt.
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 teaspoon sea salt
Dip the chicken into the mayo bowl, evenly coating all sides. Then, dip the chicken into the bowl with crushed Doritos. Turn over the chicken and thoroughly cover with Doritos.
Place chicken into an oven-safe baking dish and bake uncovered in the oven for 40 minutes, or until cooked through. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
*I love cool ranch Doritos, but any flavor will work equally well. For a plain version, I like to use plain crushed tortilla chips as well.**I prefer to make this recipe with chicken breasts, but you can use thighs or tenders. Just be aware that the cooking time may vary.Tips:
Use a rolling pin (or food processor for speed) to crush the Doritos into even crumbs. Consistency helps the coating stick and bake evenly.
Pat the chicken dry before dredging. This prevents excess moisture from making the coating slide off.
After dredging in Doritos, gently press the crumbs onto the chicken so they adhere better.
For extra crispiness, you can place a wire rack inside your baking dish so air circulates around the chicken.
Since chicken breast thickness varies, check with a meat thermometer (165°F) for perfectly cooked chicken without drying it out.
Air Fryer Instructions: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F, spray the basket with nonstick spray, place the breaded chicken breasts in the basket, spray them with cooking spray, and air fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until 165°F.Storage: Store Dorito chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
