Why you will love French toast sticks
- Baked: Rather than being cooked on the stovetop, these sticks are baked in the oven so that cooking time is hands off and they are great if you are feeding a crowd.
- Sweet: If you have a sweet tooth, you will love these! They are seasoned with vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon and finished with icing sugar and honey.
- Kid friendly: My kids love these for breakfast, and the big kids devour them too!

How to make French toast sticks
Be sure to see the recipe card below for full ingredients & instructions!
- Cut the bread into sticks.
- Dip and soak the sticks in the milk mixture.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake in a pre heated oven.
- Melt the butter and drizzle over the baked sticks, sprinkle with icing sugar and drizzle with honey.

French toast for a crowd
This is my go to recipes if I’m hosting brunch for friends or have overnight guests. You get all of those delicious flavors and textures, but because they are cooked on a sheet pan together, you don’t have to juggle keeping things warm.
You can easily double and triple the recipe and cook them on two sheet pans if you are serving a large group.
What’s the best bread to use?
It’s best to use slightly stale bread so that it soaks up lots of that milk mixture. I like to use white toast bread as it’s super easy to cut, but you can easily make this recipe with brioche or challah.
What can you use to top the French toast?
I like to keep it simple with a dusting of icing sugar and honey, maple syrup will also work great. You can go full out with some whipped cream or add fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries or bananas.

Recipe Tips
- Mix the egg and milk mixture really well so you don’t end up with lumbs of egg whites on the baked toast.
- Soak the bread for at least 20 seconds so that each stick absorbs as much liquid as it can.
- Flip the sticks halfway through baking so that they are golden brown on each side.
