How to make Chicken Wonton Tacos
Be sure to see the recipe card below for full ingredients & instructions!
- Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Add the chicken to the mix and coat it evenly.
- Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Sauté the chicken until it’s browned and cooked through.
- Using a muffin tin, bake the wonton wrappers for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together the rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Add the coleslaw and mix it well.
- Fill each baked wonton shell evenly with the chicken and fresh veggies.
- Top the tacos with cilantro, green onion, and chili sauce.

Can I make these chicken wonton tacos spicy?
Absolutely! The easiest way to add some heat to these already flavorful tacos would be to sprinkle some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper into the chicken marinade.
If you want to add more fresh veggies, diced jalapeños would be a wonderful spicy garnish on top of the tacos!
What should I dip the tacos in?
Sweet chili sauce is definitely my favorite dip for these tacos. The sweet flavors of the sauce compliment the fresh, savory tacos perfectly.
However, these wonton tacos are also delicious with teriyaki sauce, tamari, and avocado ranch. It all depends on what your favorite sauce is!
Are there any other toppings I can add?
I love the simplicity of just green onions, cilantro, and coleslaw mix.
If you’re looking to add more veggies, though, more power to you! Chopped jalapeños, avocado chunks, and thinly sliced red onions would all be delicious additions to these chicken tacos.

Recipe Tips and Notes
- The longer you let the chicken marinate, the more flavorful they will be. For best results, try letting your chicken marinate in the fridge overnight. It’s worth the wait!
- Don’t toss the coleslaw in the rice vinegar and honey mixture until you’re ready to assemble and serve the tacos. If the coleslaw sits in the mixture too long, it might become limp and lose its crunchy texture.
- Want a little extra flavor? Add some flaky sea salt to the wonton wrappers right before they bake! You could also sprinkle just a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each taco.

Next time you want everyone asking, “can I have the recipe?!” This is the recipe to follow! These wonton chicken tacos are simple, yet impressive. Each bite of these crunchy wonton shells and juicy chicken breast is so satisfactory! Don’t be surprised if you can’t have just one.
